Greetings Brothers!
We have a great weekend coming up and as was the case last year, the location is a bit tricky for some, particularly after dark! Forest Service Road 07 that we take to Jackson is unmarked but is distinguishable by the large parking lot at the crest of the grade known locally as Little Truckee Summit.

I would avoid I-80 between Reno and Truckee if at all possible. Delays have been up to an hour and a half!

If coming from Truckee, go north on SR89, turn left or west toward California about sixteen miles north of I-80 at Little Truckee Summit (remember this is un-marked but there is a large parking lot there and possible signs directing you to Jackson Meadows Reservoir, Weber Lake, Independence Lake etc).

North! Don’t take the 89 south, Lake Tahoe turn off.

If coming from Sierraville, take the right turn at the top of the grade just seven miles south of town.

You may see signs stating you are heading toward Jackson Meadows Reservoir, Weber Lake, Independence Lake—

Here is a mapquest link you might find helpful. Once on the correct page, you can zoom in and out:  http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Truckee&state=CA&cat=Jackson+Meadows+Reservoir&country=US&latitude=39.328098&longitude=-120.182198&geocode=CITY

North from Reno? Here it is in a nutshell: From US 395 north; twenty minutes to State Route 70 at Haleleujah Junction-turn left; ten minutes to Vinton at SR 49 turn left; thirty minutes to Sierraville at SR89 turn left; ten minutes to Little Truckee Summit turn right; sixteen miles or twenty five minutes you will be at the Aspen Camp just a mile from Jackson Meadows Reservoir.

Reno people might think about going over Mt. Rose if you acre coming from the south end. It is a pleasant drive and SR267 turns into SR89 in Truckee anyway.

There will be no cell phone coverage at the camp. No signal.

Scouts should bring the basics listed in the manual for overnight camping. OA provides meals.

MEMBERS-BRING A LANTERN OR TWO!  IT IS DARK UP THERE!!

Let’s do this thing!

Arrowmen! August is a great time to be an Arrowman. Our OA Village will be a focal point for the fellowship of the Brotherhood and we have a full roster of attendees. There are a few slots left for those who wish to spend the Jambo in the OA Village with us. August 5-8th. Once every 100 years! Contact Inductions Chief Kevin Glover to get onto the youth roster. His phone is: 775-340-0170.

The Fall Lodge Fellowship at Jackson Meadows Reservoir north of Truckee is a great place to have a fellowship while we offer candidates their last opportunity for induction. It is high altitude, forested and cool during the dog days of summer! The USFS loves having us and we accomplished much for the Little Laiser Meadows Horse Camp last year. It’s a Twin Spin! (You had to be there in the 60’s to understand that I guess:) Plan on being there. Sign up early in the council office or download the form and mail it in so we can get a count.

We won’t have much time to catch our breath though, Section Conclave is coming in September and early registration is very affordable.  Check out http://www.sectionw3n.org/ for online registration.

Do it now and save big!!
